      Hi Ellzy

that’s a really good question. I have 2 answers to it.
The first is I actually made a massive job change a few years ago, I gave up my job managing a complaints team for a big company (I got paid for people to shout at me – not fun) to become a scientist and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!

The second answer is, I don’t think I would change having a job in science…one day i’d actually really like to run my own lab…but only for a little while, maybe 5-10 years (ok that’s actually a long time but I mean I don’t want to do it my whole working life). Once I’ve made some helpful science discoveries I would like to move in to full time science outreach. Things like “i’m a scientist get me out of here” are science outreach things. I’d like to be the person that organises it all for a University. For a long time I really wanted to be a teacher and doing things like answering all of these awesome questions is where i’m happiest; doing science and teaching at the same time. It’s the best.

      Senga 🙂

I really like my job so I don’t want to change at the moment. But who knows, maybe in the future I will want to do something different and that’s okay too. After all, there are lots of other interesting jobs. Doing a university degree and becoming a scientist has given me the confidence to feel like I could be good at a lot of different things.

p.s. Senga: you’d make a great science outreach professional, you should go for it 🙂

i think being a scientist have given me a lot of skills i could use in other jobs. i like investigating things and i think i understand things quite quickly, so i think i’d be a good journalist. i’d like to try writing about sports (i want to watch sport all day basically), but i think i’d come back to being a scientist after a bit.
