I’m not quite sure. People have been doing ‘sciencey stuff’ since the time of ancient civilizations like the Greeks, Romans and even earlier ones like the Sumerians (who lived in the Middle East) or the Indus River Valley civilization (who lived near India). For the last two we are talking about people that lived as many as 5000 years ago. The problem with this is it’s so long ago that we don’t know much about individual people. We just know that they did things like: making careful measurements, recording where the stars are and basic mathematics like understanding numbers and shapes.

      *******

So the answer is: we don’t know who the very first scientist in the world is, but they lived probably at least 5000 years ago, maybe even more!
