The hardest experiment I’ve ever done?….oooh that’s tough!

I think the one I found the hardest wasn’t one that needed a lot of thought but it took a REALLY long time and a lot of effort. I grew 1120 plants in massive water tanks called a hydroponics system. I had to put each on into the tank with a little earplug thing individually, it took 2 hours per tank and I had 8 tanks (although I did 3 tanks at a time)! I then had to change the water and special nutrients in the tanks every 2 days for 3 weeks. Each tank held 60 litres of water so I had to transport 180 litres of water to the tanks every 2 days for each set of 3 tanks! That’s 180kg of water! My arms got pretty strong!

It was a really important experiment though because it helped me learn about special molecules that plants produce to attract helpful bacteria that help the plants to grow. This is really important because I am trying to develop a way to get plants to grow really well without farmers having to use chemicals that are really bad for our environment. Hopefully, one day I will be able to use bacteria to make crops grow much better in developing counties where people often don’t have enough food.

      Thanks
